Stepan Oilfield Solutions’ PETROSTEP IFT Lowering Agents help hydraulic fracturing companies improve oil and gas recovery and enhance flowback by lowering interfacial tension (IFT) between injected fluids and the hydrocarbons.
PETROSTEP FRB-5 is a proprietary nonionic surfactant that extends the salinity range of friction reducers used in hydraulic fracturing. It enables the use of produced/recycled water containing high levels of divalent cations with friction reducers designed solely for fresh water use. In addition, it also improves the salt tolerance of high brine anionic and cationic friction reducers.

PETROSTEP KB-3208 intermediate is a polyglycol ester that can be used in most crude oil demulsification systems. It is effective in a large variety of crude, processed and refined oils in operations worldwide. In many formulations, the addition of PETROSTEP KB-3208 increases water drop speed and emulsion removal. Systems containing low water percentages would benefit from a demulsifier formulation containing this product.
PETROSTEP KB-1410 is an oxylkylated amine designed to effectively demulsify a large variety of crude oils worldwide. PETROSTEP KB-1410 is very effective in preventing emulsion formation in stimulation and completion activities where low emulsion tendency is critical to product performance. Products formulated and effective with PETROSTEP KB-1410 include stimulation additives, corrosion inhibitors, workover fluids, paraffin inhibitors, wetting agents and EOR additives.

Our PETROCIDE® Registered Biocides line are U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered blends of glutaraldehyde and quaternary amines. These formulated end-use products (EUPs) are designed to specifically reduce and eliminate heterotrophic bacteria, acid-producing bacteria (APB) and sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) that are known to instigate issues such as well souring and microbial-induced corrosion on oilfield equipment, storage tanks and transmission pipelines.
