Stepan Company Achieves EcoVadis Gold Status and Places in Top 4 Percent of Chemical Products Manufacturers

Stepan Company is proud to have maintained our EcoVadis Gold status, placing in the top 4% of manufacturers of chemical products in the 2023 EcoVadis Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report.

Stepan performed especially well in categories related to Business Ethics and Labor and Human Rights, demonstrating the company’s commitment to ethical, responsible and sustainable business practices as well as workplace safety and employee well-being.

The EcoVadis platform provides business sustainability ratings, evaluating companies on ethical business practices, supply chain management, human and labor rights and environmental performance. Stepan has reported to EcoVadis since 2015 and has demonstrated year-over-year improvement as the company makes further strides on environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance.

Stepan participates in numerous other voluntary ESG frameworks as well. One example is our annual Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) assessment where Stepan recently received a B on the climate risk evaluation. CDP scores provide a snapshot of a company’s awareness, disclosure and management processes, allowing participating companies to communicate on risks and opportunities as well as benchmark progress.

By reporting to CDP and EcoVadis, Stepan not only meets the transparency needs of investors and customers, but can more accurately track our own progress towards our sustainability goals. We continue to promote transparency through these methods of disclosure and strive for continuous improvement in our areas of impact by integrating best practices.
